Saying “Thank You” by Way of a Shoebox: Value City Furniture Rallies Shoebox Donations to Send to Troops Overseas, Asks Customers to do the Same

Value City Furniture announced today that they are supporting Blue Star Mothers of America by asking their customers to drop off donations at any of their stores that will be sent to U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan. The charity event begins today and runs through November 13th.
Value City Furniture was influenced to become more deeply involved with the organization by a home office employee who founded and currently serves as president of her local Blue Star Mothers chapter. During the campaign, Value City Furniture is asking that the community use shoeboxes to hold the items they want to donate. Packaged goods can range from household conveniences such as batteries, soap or a toothbrush, to playful commodities such as mini-footballs, candy and magazines. These boxed “goodies” are meant to provide a small piece of home to troops serving thousands of miles away.
“We are passionate about giving back to our community”, said Scott Binger, Vice President of Creative Services. “For years, our associates have dedicated their time and money to different charities, and we are very excited to ask our fans and customers to join us and help raise donations for our Blue Star Mothers philanthropic event. There are thousands of soldiers overseas who are missing holidays with their families to serve our country. The least we can do is show our support by sending them a shoebox full of goodies.”
Once a shoebox is complete, it can be dropped off at any Value City Furniture store. Cash donations are also accepted, with 100% of the proceeds given to Blue Star Mothers of America.
